In 1972, Louisiana, a hairless pup was born in a litter of Rat Terriers. Over the next decade, through selective breeding the American Hairless Terrier breed was developed, and was fully recognized by AKC in 2016. American Hairless Terriers come in both Hairless and Coated varieties. Coated and Hairless puppies are born with hair, and in the same litter, but the soft vestigial coat of the hairless variety falls out a few weeks after birth. With the exception of whiskers and Eyebrows, the hairless AHT is completely devoid of coat, and has full dentition.

KEY DIFFERENCES:

- Hairless and Coated Varieties

- Size: 12-16"

- Full tails required on hairless variety
